Xiaomi 18 Pro

Lei Jun confirmed on 20 September that the Xiaomi 18 Pro series launches on 23 September 2026 at 19:00 China time. He described it as a dual-size imaging technology flagship with a generational leap in capability, an all-new Versatile Back Screen that is more useful and more intelligent, and the world debut of Xiaomi HyperOS 4. Several other new products launch at the same event. Complete specifications, configurations and pricing are expected on the day.

Lu Weibing publicly demonstrated the Xiaomi 18 Pro for the first time. The rear display carries over from the previous generation and is now called the Versatile Back Screen, built around AI-generated mini applications. Xiaomi demonstrated an egg timer, a water-drinking tracker, a Pomodoro timer, an English vocabulary trainer and recipe suggestions — the point being that the back screen is an AI interaction surface rather than a notification window. The Pro Max shares the design; the standard Xiaomi 18 does not have it.

Xiaomi President Lu Weibing announced the series for this month, stating it is the most significant and most comprehensive upgrade the Xiaomi numbered flagship line has ever had, with substantial improvements across performance, imaging, battery life and AI.

For the first time, Xiaomi is splitting the launch of its Pro and standard models. Only the Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max arrive on 23 September; the standard Xiaomi 18 has been pushed to December. The standard model will not have the back screen.

Reports point to the series being first to market with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, built on TSMC's 2nm process, using the third-generation Oryon CPU with clock speeds above 5GHz, paired with LPDDR6 memory and UFS 5.0 storage. Both models have cleared network certification — the 18 Pro as M154FF — supporting the n79 5G band and UWB. Xiaomi has not named the chipset.

Reports describe a Leica-tuned triple camera with a 200MP LOFIC main sensor, a 200MP periscope telephoto said to gather nearly three times more light than the previous generation, and an ultra-wide. A new AI capture feature is also reported. The camera module is said to sit flush with the back screen with no bump.

Leaks describe a 6.36-inch 2K LTPO AMOLED at up to 4000 nits peak brightness, dimming to 1 nit, with an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor and uniform bezels under 1mm on all four sides. Battery is reported at around 7000mAh with 100W wired, 50W wireless and reverse wireless charging. A dedicated physical AI button is also reported. None of this is confirmed.

Reports place the Xiaomi 18 Pro somewhere between ¥5,499 and ¥5,999 to start, with 12GB+256GB as the entry configuration and 512GB and 1TB tiers above it. The expected increase over the previous generation is attributed to 2nm silicon and rising memory prices across the industry. Nothing is official until 23 September.
