Xiaomi 18 Pro Max

Lei Jun confirmed on 20 September that the Xiaomi 18 Pro series launches on 23 September 2026 at 19:00 China time. He described it as a dual-size imaging technology flagship with a generational leap in capability, an all-new Versatile Back Screen that is more useful and more intelligent, and the world debut of Xiaomi HyperOS 4. The Pro Max is the larger of the two sizes. Several other new products launch at the same event.

Lu Weibing publicly demonstrated the back screen design, confirming it appears on both the Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max. It is built around AI-generated mini applications — Xiaomi demonstrated an egg timer, a water-drinking tracker, a Pomodoro timer, an English vocabulary trainer and recipe suggestions. The standard Xiaomi 18 does not have the back screen.

Xiaomi President Lu Weibing announced the series for this month, stating it is the most significant and most comprehensive upgrade the Xiaomi numbered flagship line has ever had, with substantial improvements across performance, imaging, battery life and AI.

Reports point to the series being first to market with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, built on TSMC's 2nm process, using the third-generation Oryon CPU with clock speeds above 5GHz, paired with LPDDR6 memory and UFS 5.0 storage. Both models have cleared network certification — the 18 Pro Max as M610BB — supporting the n79 5G band and UWB. Xiaomi has not named the chipset.

Reports describe a Leica-tuned triple camera with a 200MP LOFIC main sensor, a 200MP periscope telephoto said to gather nearly three times more light than the previous generation, and an ultra-wide. The camera module is said to sit flush with the back screen with no bump.

Reports place the Pro Max battery in the 8,500mAh class against roughly 7,000mAh on the 18 Pro, with 100W wired, 50W wireless and reverse wireless charging. A dedicated physical AI button and uniform bezels under 1mm on all four sides are also reported. Nothing is confirmed.

For the first time, Xiaomi is splitting the launch of its Pro and standard models. Only the Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max arrive on 23 September; the standard Xiaomi 18 has been pushed to December and will not have the back screen.

Reports place the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max between roughly ¥6,999 and ¥7,999 to start, positioning it where the previous generation's top model sat. The expected increase is attributed to 2nm silicon and rising memory prices across the industry. Nothing is official until 23 September.
