Xiaomi 18 Fold 16GB+512GB Red

Xiaomi has confirmed the 18 Fold will be unveiled at its autumn flagship launch event on 7 September 2026 at 19:00 China time, alongside the Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro Max. Complete specifications, configurations and pricing are expected on the day.

Xiaomi showed the 18 Fold in public for the first time at its IFA press event in Berlin. Xiaomi President Lu Weibing said during the livestream that the phone represents exceptional value against Apple's pricing, while acknowledging that rising memory costs have pushed the price above ten thousand yuan.

Xiaomi released the first teaser and defined the 18 Fold as a "mid-fold" — a new category sitting between a conventional book-style foldable and the wider designs that have appeared recently. Closed, the 5.38-inch cover screen is compact enough for one-hand use and roughly the size of a passport. Opened, the 7.58-inch inner display uses a 4:3 ratio that reads more like a small tablet than a stretched phone. Lei Jun described it as Xiaomi's new answer to the foldable, combining portability with a wide field of view. The phone carries a horizontal camera module and a signature red finish Xiaomi calls Xiye Red, described as the colour of ripe wild berries at sunset. Xiaomi has retired the MIX Fold line and moved its foldable flagship into the numbered flagship series.

At its XRING chip technology briefing, Xiaomi confirmed the 18 Fold debuts the XRING O3 — Xiaomi's second in-house flagship SoC, built on TSMC's 3nm process with 24 billion transistors, a ten-core all-big-core CPU and a peak clock of 4.35GHz. The phone is also the first anywhere to ship with CXMT LPDDR6 memory. Lei Jun called the 18 Fold the top flagship of the Xiaomi 18 series and, later, the most premium phone Xiaomi has ever made.

Leaks indicate a special edition colourway alongside the standard finishes, and that the CXMT LPDDR6 memory is exclusive to the 16GB+1TB configuration. Nothing has been confirmed.

Analysis of Xiaomi's own teaser video points to two cells rated at 3540mAh and 2335mAh, which would give a combined rated capacity of 5875mAh and a typical capacity near 6000mAh. If accurate, that would make it one of the largest batteries in a foldable of this size.

Xiaomi has not published a price. Company sources have indicated pricing above ¥10,000, with Lu Weibing saying it is "well over ten thousand" while arguing it offers strong value against Apple. Reports point to roughly the ¥12,000 tier. Nothing is official until 7 September, and this would be Xiaomi's first phone to cross ten thousand yuan.
