vivo has confirmed the X500 series launches on 21 September 2026 at 19:00 China time, alongside new smart terminal products. Complete specifications, configurations and pricing are expected on the day. Reservations are already open in China, with over 230,000 registered by early September.
vivo product manager Han Boxiao confirmed the X500 Pro carries a new 85mm Zeiss 64MP APO super telephoto camera. APO is Zeiss's designation for apochromatic correction, which controls the colour fringing that shows up on long lenses, and 85mm is the classic portrait focal length.
The X500 Pro series debuts a Zeiss ultra-dynamic main camera co-developed by vivo's Blueprint imaging division and Sony, built around the new Blueprint Guangyu 900 sensor. vivo states it delivers up to 17EV of dynamic range. The series is also the first to carry CIPA 7.0 stabilisation on both the main and periscope telephoto cameras, and the first to record 4K video at 240fps for slow motion. The AI photography assistant has been fully upgraded.
vivo product manager Han Boxiao confirmed the X500 series for September, comprising the X500, X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max. This is the first time the X series has used the Pro Max name, replacing the Pro+ and Ultra naming used previously. vivo has skipped the X400 generation entirely. Five areas were named for upgrade: video, photography, performance, display and the operating system.
Leaks indicate the X500 Pro moves to a smaller 6.37-inch 1.5K display at 144Hz, positioning it as the compact option in the range while the Pro Max takes the large-screen role. Nothing is confirmed.
Reports point to the X500 Pro sharing the 2nm Dimensity 9600 Pro with the Pro Max. vivo has only confirmed the chip for the Pro Max so far.
Pricing will be announced on 21 September. We will update this page the moment vivo confirms the figures.
