HUAWEI Mate XT 2 ULTIMATE DESIGN 16GB+512GB Black

Huawei has confirmed the Mate XT 2 ULTIMATE DESIGN will be unveiled at the HarmonyOS 7 and full-scenario launch event on 7 September 2026, starting 14:30 China time. Complete specifications, configurations and pricing are expected on the day. Deposit pre-orders are already open through Huawei's official store in China.

Huawei Consumer BG Chairman Richard Yu demonstrated the Mate XT 2 on social media. The biggest change is the folding method: the original Mate XT used a Z-fold, while the Mate XT 2 uses a G-fold, opening one wing at a time. Because both panels fold inward, the flexible display is fully enclosed by the body when closed, physically protecting it from scratches and knocks — the main criticism of the first generation, where part of the main screen sat exposed. The Mate XT 2 also adds a separate cover screen for use while folded, and keeps an octagonal rear camera module similar to the previous model. Yu stated that when unfolded it remains the thinnest and largest foldable phone in the industry.

Huawei's store lists 16GB+512GB, 16GB+1TB, 16GB+1TB with a privacy display, and a 16GB+2TB stylus bundle with the privacy display. Three colours are offered: Black, White and Purple.

Hands-on details circulating from retail displays describe a gem-cut lens bezel inspired by fine jewellery cutting, a textured rear panel, and an ULTIMATE DESIGN emblem set into the frame's waistline. A dark purple finish has drawn particular attention.

Leaks suggest both the inner and outer displays step up in refresh rate, and that the phone may use the newest generation of Kunlun Glass along with Huawei's Basalt hinge materials. None of this is confirmed.

For reference, the original Mate XT ULTIMATE DESIGN launched in China at ¥19,999 for 16GB+256GB, ¥21,999 for 16GB+512GB and ¥23,999 for 16GB+1TB, and the later Mate XTs started at ¥17,999. Reports suggest the Mate XT 2 may start above ¥20,000. Nothing is official until 7 September.
