The iPhone Duo comes in a single model — there is no Pro or Max version — with four storage tiers and two finishes:

Everything else is identical across the range: the same A20 Pro chip, the same displays, the same cameras and the same battery. Storage is worth thinking about if you shoot 4K Dolby Vision at 120fps, which produces very large files. Buy the Hong Kong version, not the China version
Apple sells the iPhone Duo in different regional variants, and for this model the difference is unusually clear-cut:

On the iPhone 18 Pro there is at least an argument for the China version, because it takes two physical nano-SIM cards. Here there is no such trade-off — both versions are eSIM only, so the China model gives up Apple Intelligence and 10W of wireless charging speed for nothing in return. The displays
Two Super Retina XDR panels, and the inner one has something no other iPhone has:
- Inner: 7.6-inch all-screen OLED folding display, 1878 Γ 2670 at 430 ppi, with a nano-texture finish and wide-angle OLEDs
- Outer: 5.4-inch all-screen OLED, 1398 Γ 2034 at 460 ppi
The nano-texture finish is the detail worth understanding. It is the same treatment Apple uses on its Pro Display XDR and iPad Pro — the glass is etched at a nanometre scale so it scatters reflections instead of bouncing them back. On a large foldable screen you will often be using indoors under lights, that makes a visible difference, and it is one reason the inner display works for reading and drawing.
Both screens carry Dynamic Island, Always-On, ProMotion up to 120Hz, a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and brightness from 1 nit up to 3000 nits outdoors. Both support Apple Pencil (USB-C).
Thin, and titanium
The numbers that matter for a foldable:

5.2mm open is thinner than most conventional phones, and 11.3mm closed means it goes in a pocket rather than a bag. The frame is a titanium foldable design with Ceramic Shield 2 on the front and Ceramic Shield on the back, rated IP68 to 6 metres for 30 minutes.
Touch ID, not Face ID
This is a genuine change and worth knowing before you order. The iPhone Duo uses a Touch ID fingerprint sensor built into the side button rather than Face ID. The TrueDepth array that Face ID needs does not fit the folding design.
In practice that suits a foldable: you can unlock it with a thumb while it is still closed, or while it is flat on a desk, which is awkward with face recognition. Apple Pay works through Touch ID as usual.
The cameras, and what the fold adds
A 48MP Dual Fusion system rather than the triple setup on the Pro models:

That gives a 4x optical-quality zoom range and up to 10x digital. There is no periscope telephoto here — if extreme zoom is your priority, the iPhone 18 Pro is the better choice.
What the Duo does that no other iPhone can is use the fold itself:
- Duo dual-side preview — your subject can see themselves on the cover screen while you frame on the inner one
- Dual-side simultaneous capture — record from front and rear cameras at the same time, up to 4K Dolby Vision at 30fps
- Duo FaceTime — the call layout uses both panels
Video records at 4K Dolby Vision up to 120fps, with Cinematic mode to 4K 60fps, Action mode to 2.8K, slow motion at 1080p 240fps, and spatial audio recording.
Battery: two cells, and a surprising number
The Duo has a dual battery, and Apple quotes figures per screen because the cover display uses far less power:
- Up to 24 hours typical use
- Up to 44 hours video playback on the outer display; 31 hours on the inner
- Up to 37 hours streamed video on the outer display; 26 hours on the inner
44 hours is a large number for any phone, and it reflects how much of the time you will realistically spend on the small screen. Charging is 50% in around 20 minutes with a 60W or higher adapter, or 50% in around 30 minutes on MagSafe at 25W.
eSIM only β check this before you order
The iPhone Duo has no physical SIM tray in any region. It uses dual eSIM, holding two active eSIMs and storing eight or more.
That is fine for most buyers — eSIM support is now standard across major carriers in the US, Europe, Japan, Singapore, Australia and the Gulf. But if your carrier does not offer eSIM, or you rely on swapping physical SIMs when you travel, this is the one specification that could catch you out.
